And people say cats can’t love, here’s proof
A box of sisters from different mothers, Sheelah and Biddy
Milo is spending the night at the ER, awaiting blood tests and an ultrasound. He got sick on Monday, and we took him to a different one. They put him on meds, and said if he didn’t greatly improve to get in touch with our vet. He didn’t, the vet said he needed to go to a full-service hospital for ultrasound and gi workup. I hated leaving him in a cage! We are all bereft, especially Meko, who hasn’t left his side since he got back the first time. Gonna be a rough night…
Keep us posted on how Milo’s doing. Hugs to you and Meko.
I’m sad that Milo is ill. We have a lot to learn from our fur friends no matter the species on love unconditional love. You and Meko take care of each other.
During the summer illness of my wife and her
death it was coming home each day to the cats, dog and one old goat that kept me from floundering.
@CarlosLuis So sorry to hear of your wife’s passing. Every day on FUD, I am humbled by everyone’s capacity for compassion and understanding even when their own lives are ungrounded or, quite honestly, a mess.
Oh my goodness CL, I am so sorry to hear that your wife passed. I can’t imagine how you are feeling or doing, but am sending the biggest hugs. xoxoxo
Thank you for your kind words @Mariethm and @JessicaD Without a doubt FU diabetes is one of the kindest of any disease oriented web communities.
Other sites I’m familiar with will have some mean spirited commenters, but I can’t recall that happening here.
Because this is a cat oriented thread here’s a picture of Sheelah. She’s quiet because she’s sleeping ![]()
Milo is being held another night for observation. The good news is that the scans and bloodwork didn’t show much, except severe dehydration and high wbc. Monday’s quick ultrasound (the portable one, not the shaved tummy one) showed a bit of inflammation in his tummy, so I’ll have to ask them for info on this morning’s. He’s responding well to the IVs and meds, and they’re hopeful that he’ll continue to get better or stay stable when they take him off of them. Not sure what he’s on. We’re going by in a bit to visit him and get more info from the doctors.
Meko was searching for Milo all night, and kept on waking me up, asking for help finding him. Since Milo spent the other night under our covers (not normal for him), Meko searched the bed a few times. He was getting very stressed, so I slipped a little gaba in his churu to take the edge off. I don’t need a Herpes flare-up on top of this! He’s now keeping Milo’s spot warm for him.
Well, we’re off to see the spider monkey, who’s going to glare at me druggedly…
I love Sheelah’s tummy!
Poor baby, are they litter mates?
I’m the only one who gets to pet her tummy. She’s a one man cat, likes the other cats but not much other humans. Now Manny and Biddy love everyone
We’re not sure of their real relationship. They were rescued from a hoarding situation along with a lot of cats. Meko is definitely a bit older. I imagine he’s Milo’s dad, the way he yells at him sometimes and the way Milo tries to mimic his every move.
I was laughing imagining those 2
Poor scared spider monkey! They let us hang out with him in a side room for awhile. The vets have been good to him, letting him hide under blankets. Was heartening to hear that he’s been trying to chew his IV off today. Last night he wasn’t even doing that. He’s much improved. Fingers, toes, and eyes crossed!
Sullivan
Gilbert
They’re settling in at our cabin in WV; be here for a couple of weeks. Have to give both a bit of Gaba to calm them down for the trip, probably be themselves tonight. Sully tends to think of Gilbert as something to chew on for a while after arrival! They’re brothers from the same litter, rescued from a shelter about an hours drive away; Sully is the bigger by about a pound.
Boy is home! They called me last night saying he was good enough to come home. I ubered over (Hubby had a rare night at the Elks) and he was home by 10. I didn’t get a pic, but Meko’s eyes looked like a cartoon when he saw Milo walk out of the carrier. More anti-nausea meds and trying him on prescription tummy food. He’s been frantically trying to burrow into everything, but has calmed down now. Meko was yelling at him all night because Milo wouldn’t go to bed and get cleaned by him. This whole episode made me realize how quickly they’ve become our “kids”.
I whole heartedly agree except my sons would do chores while my fur kids require me to do chores.
I’m happy that Milo is home, and Meko will settle down to taking good care of Milo
