The daily life of cats

I spent the morning cleaning out the fridge. I found a container of cat nip. As soon as I opened it the cats came running. I took a pinch and dropped it on the floor. Manny was in cat heaven, rolling in it, while Sheelah was like mmff

@CarlosLuis, I’m so sorry to hear your wife has passed. I missed a few weeks on FUD and was stunned ]by what you have been going through. My condolences and may your wife RIP :folded_hands:.

I hope Biddy will show up, too. It’s encouraging to see the food and water that you’ve been leaving out has been nibbled on. :folded_hands:

Thank you for your kind words. I am sad but also am confident that AliceJean is at peace. This past Sunday morning a friend of 56 years (very young to me) died from a recurrent cancer, It hit me hard. I am concerned for her husband and 2 college aged daughters. Anyway I amdouble grieving.

Now some good news about the Biddy girl. I was coming home from the church where I taught 7-8 grade children. Just before my drive, a Biddy look a like raced across the road.

She may be returning to her former feral life. She never acted feral, but that is her early life. She is eating all the Cat Chow now.

That is tough to lose a good friend in a short time span after losing AliceJean. Yes, 56 is way too young. May she RIP as well as AliceJean :folded_hands:

Awe, I’m so happy you caught a glimpse of Biddy girl or perhaps a look alike. :growing_heart: I’m glad the kitty chow is being eaten. Maybe she’ll return home when it starts to get colder…

So with Biddy out galavanting Manny and Sheelah are slowly adjusting. With the 3 we would share one can of Fancy Feast in the afternoon and one at 8PM. But then they were leaving quite a bit. It’s not that Biddy ate much, but Sheelah is a competitive eater.

So I started giving the half a can with the other half in the fridge. The second would be Rival Tuna and Crab in sauce.

Well guess what? The brats don’t like cold food. I tried something just now. I nuked each bowl for 5 seconds and the ate it.

Whose in charge here?

@CarlosLuis and @Mariethm My wife was playing with our two cats this morning with a stick with a string attached (simple toys are the best!) and one of them took it from her and dragged it upstairs. She (the wife) dutifully followed to retrieve the toy. Next time, the other one took it from her and dragged to the front door. She (the wife) dutifully followed and retrieved the toy. Next thing I know, the wife is commenting that she’s become the pet and is playing “human fetch”!

Actually they want their servants to be fit and healthy.

I’m pretty sure that the cats are betting on who can make their underlings scamper around the house for them the longest.

What’s better than one cat in the new pantry bed? 2, waiting for the humans to throw superballs at the ceiling.

Mighty Mouse did not run fast enough (that’s what the vet said!) and has a bite wound on his left hip. Of course, we did not discover it until it abcessed and he pulled the fur out so he needed stitches and antibiotics. Now he is confined to a multi-tiered crate until the wound heals up. He is grumpy and letting us know loudly and regularly (although the gabapentin helps somewhat). We suspect the culprit was Winston, who moved into our garage last winter. Alas, though he is quite sweet and cuddly with us, he is being evicted from the garage this weekend while the weather is mild. I am sure he will continue to visit until the snow falls in ernest. Sigh….

The thread about changing time on insulin pumps caused be to post here. For the week I was in Connecticut my cousin fed and watered our dog and 2 cats. I made it easy on him to just feed them dry food.

Now that I’m back things are back to normal, well almost. For years I would open a can of Fancy Feast at 4PM and 8PM.

Sheelah starts pestering me at 3PM and 7PM.

I know how to reset the time and date :stopwatch:on my pump, but what to do about Sheelah? :cat_with_wry_smile:

I’m feeding them a few minutes later each day. They still pester me early but are becoming resigned to the change.

I’m just amazed at their long memories. They went without the Fancy Feast for 7 days.

They start pestering me about an hour before official “dinner time” independent of the time change! :joy_cat:

Sheelah is happy. This would be better as a video. She’s kneeding in the air while I rub her tummy. She does it best when I massage her back toes.
