Sleepy cats!
When they sleep in the closet, they do NOT want to be pet or brushed, but I just can’t help myself!
I don’t blame you! That fluffy tail is irresistible!
Update on Leo: Because he has “aggressive hyperthyroidism” the vet who treated him in SLC thinks he probably has a cancerous thyroid tumor. I brought him to my local vet for x-rays, which showed his heart is enlarged due to high blood pressure (basically congestive heart failure) and possible evidence for spread of a tumor (inconclusive image). All we can do is try to keep him comfortable and help him continue doing all his kitty stuff. He snuggled up with me overnight for a little while and also sat on my lap this morning while I drank my tea.
I’m so sorry about Leo. We had 2 of our sweethearts taken by 2 different cancers leaving us catless. Lovey had a canine tooth issue that was as a terminal cancer.
Frankie who was another friendly male who found our house ended up being an indoor cat. Our Leo wouldn’t accept him. Frankie died of feline leukemia.
I miss all the cats that lived with us over the years.
Leo is lucky to have you as you are to have him. I’m glad he is snuggling with you.
Leo had another check-up today and both his T4 and blood pressure are greatly improved!!! Whether the spot on the x-ray is cancer or not, he’s much less at risk for a stroke now.
I think those curly pieces are more often found under the coach, chairs, refrigerator, in the laundry basket, or somehow in a drawer! We’ve found, except for these plastic curls, that the best toys for cats are the least cost, i.e. a cardboard box. We recently bought new cat litter boxes and they came in cardboard boxes with graphics of flowers and circles printed on them with instructions to cut out the circles and close up the box! It’s still being played with six weeks later!
My cats won’t play with boxes! And they lose interest in paper bags within seconds.
I keep these in my pockets for late night “emergencies” like Milo has pushed all of them under the couch and they start hunting around the bed.
@Mariethm Have you tried taking a cardboard concrete tube (HD, Lowe’s, and others have them) and drill/cut a couple of holes in them…cheap entertainment for most cats for a good long while…particularly if you once in a while throw in a cat treat or two or make a pocket for the treats to roll out of when the tube rolls around!
Yep, thunderstorms and fireworks scare the dickens out of most cats. Run and hide! Run and hide!
I should also note my own wife is scared of lightening…not the thunder, the white light zig-zagging across the sky. I have not, in the 47 years I’ve known her, been able to convince her if she sees the lightening, she’s probably safe!
Does Sheelah look tense?
Both of us are chilling after another storm front. Bad south and north of us. Yesterday a child was swept away by fast rising water walking home from the bus. Her body was found today. So sad

So sad… I’m sure the kitty cuddles are extra needed. Hoping for safety for everyone else affected.
