I love Simon’s Cat!
Poor Meko having to wear the cone of shame
I don’t hate much but I HATE autocorrect
Sorry no pictures of the porch kitties. Mama is looking good. She ate a bowl of Cat Chow while here babies were playing with each other through the spokes of a bicycle wheel. I have never seen the tykes eat, they do drink water.
@CarlosLuis Cats are notorious for NOT drinking, very low thirst quotients! They get most of their liquid thru what they eat. Obviously kittens get more from nursing. My wife and I make our own cat food partially for this reason, in hope of pushing off kidney issues. I’m confirmed believer in “just about any wet food before kibble”, but realize it’s not possible for some and the ease of kibble is understandable, if not the best. Enjoy the litte guys, they grow up awfully quick!
To day is the first time I saw the porch kittehs eating.
Here’s a through the window picture of them on the bicycle wheel playground.
One of them made eye contact and skeddattled (sic)
Mighty Mouse is at home recovering from his thyroid surgery. He’s grumpy (not groggy!!) and I bet I’ll hear his complaints all night long! Follow-up T4 check and suture removal in 2 weeks.
The vet said his thyroid was HUGE and she resected all that she could see. The vet suspects it was malignant and has sent the tissue out for biopsy. I am really really glad I chose surgery over radiation and (in hindsight) wish I had done the same for Leo much earlier in the course of the disease.
Mouse is making an excellent recovery and really really really wants to go back outside. I tell him it’s a bit too soon and he just looks annoyed and offended. ![]()
I know that look well ![]()
We were a bit concerned last night, our inside kitty, Gilbert (of Gilbert and Sullivan fame) refused to eat dinner. We were concerned because we’re at our cabin in WV and the wife laid an extra piece of carpet yestereday afternoon and though Gilbert might have eaten one of the stringy lengths of carpet backing material (Gilbert loves to eat extraneous things off the floor, small cat har balls, any bug he can find, etc.) He started acting funny, just laying/sitting under a chair in our bedroom, rather than lounging on the deck which is his normal for him. This morning he seems to have eaten his breakfast (yeah, same stuff, same jar plus canned food) and gulped it down. Perhaps he ate a spider or ant off the ground at here (we do have few big black carpenter ants foraging outside, they’re endemic here). For now he’s back in his favorite morning haunt! We’ll see…
That’ll teach you to leave them alone!
Sweet boys
Feral kitty update, I was worried about Grumblina and kittens because my cousin was feeding the house kitties in the evening. Can’t have food outside after dark because of the bandits- raccoons . They make a terrible mess.
This means Mom didn’t have food for 5 days. That’s the 1st thing I did after getting home.
I thought maybe she took them off, but then I saw playing babies. I tapped on the window and Mama put her paws on it and was reading me the riot act.![]()
Purrfect name!
Found myself and Manny in the funny pages.
Porch kitties update. I filled their bowls with water and food when it got light. A little later I was as going to load my garbage to take to the dumpster. Laying on the mat was a healthy looking but dead rat. Hmmm was it a gift or did I surprise her.
I guess the latter because after loading the car it was gone.
It’s always a gift. Cats are careful about where they leave their food and where, and when, they gift it; they don’t give it to say, “Thank you” if they are hungry (“put your oxygen mask on first”).
Neither cats nor dogs much care where the meat comes from so long as it is relatively fresh, so one cat left it and someone else picked it up and ate it. Last one to the bowl.
Milo is on prednisolone, and not very happy about it. Good excuse to get him more stuff that conehead Meko can’t get into.
The good news: Mighty Mouse’s HUGE thyroid is benign!!! ![]()
Today the vet removed his stitches and did his first post-op T4 check. She said he was “cranky” so gave him a bit of anesthetic before she took out the stitches. He was really glad to get home and slurp up a Churu treat!
