G7 dropping signal

Since the January android update to the G7 app my phone consistently looses connectivity to the sensor. My Omnipod 5 doesn’t loose the Bluetooth connection. Don’t know if this is because of 2 connections to the sensor or software failure.

Dexcom recommends turning off auto updates and waiting until the Dexcom app is compatible with the new update. This is mostly for full updates not the smaller tweaks

Have you checked how many old dexcom bluetooth connections (DX…)you have.

Not sure if it matters, but people say to delete them to prevent problems.

My vague feeling is that dropped connections happen more often with older sensors, presumably because their batteries drain slowly over time or something. I get a 90-day supply of sensors at a time; my last one from the previous 90-day batch ended this morning and it certainly had a lot more dropouts than usual.

It was the January update to the G7 app, not the January update to Android.

It’s Dexcom’s responsibility to not offer an update if it is incompatible with the target system; no one else’s. If Android doesn’t permit that then it remains Dexcom’s responsibility; there is no plausible deniability. Just cancel the app.

This is why I don’t use the Dexcom app; I can whine and winge all I like at jamorham or navid2000 but I won’t feel entitled if they tell me to FO.

Yet when someone does use the Dexcom app and it updates itself and does not work… I always say, “Sic transit gloria Tuesday”.

Oh! I’m having a similar problem. I use the G7 app on my Android phone and I also carry a Dexcom G7 receiver most of the time (all the time now because of these issues).

For the last couple of weeks, the app is CONSISTENTLY missing data points that are not backfilled in. The receiver, however, doesn’t miss a thing and for the most part, has good, complete data.

I did some digging online to see what is going on, and it sounds like the app is the problem. I submitted a ticket to Dexcom last night but no word back yet. Very frustrating since I need to share this data with my team and it will be missing a lot :frowning:

Update: Dexcom says “oh there aren’t huge gaps in your data. We can see it just fine.” I may be paraphrasing a bit. :face_with_rolling_eyes:

Well I’ve been using a fresh batch of sensors and have been having tons of dropouts recently, so my theory is clearly wrong.

Same here. The signal losses have been relentless the past couple of weeks, and this is a new batch of sensors. Happens a lot when I’m falling asleep (love having that alarm as a lullaby!) and the other night after dinner, when I’d guessed on the high side for my bolus and wasn’t sure how things would turn out (also a great time to be getting no readings).
