That’s great, well done, you must be feeling pretty good with that! What have you been doing differently recently?

Mine has risen to 7.2% due to sticky peri-menopause highs. I was really disappointed by this as it was 6.4% (i think apart from during pregnancy my all time best in 39 years!) last October. I do think things have been steadier recently, less highs and the ineviable lows after which ultimately is what we all want to avoid. I continue to be very grateful for the g6 and tandem tslim closed loop system - goodness knows how i wouldve managed through this time without that.

Hope you are able to maintain your good level peacefully without sacrificing your sanity!

Thanks it’s more the change since January 2025 switching to Tandem / Dexcom system, more accurate carb measures using RxFood, and regular adjustment checks with my fantastic diabetes educator. Can still do better with more regular exercise than yard work (of which we have lots).

Congrats! Huge achievement!

@cogdog Sounds like you found what works for you! Congrats! You prompted me to look up RxFood and I’ll ask my Endo about it during my next appt, seems people need it “prescribed” which means there’s probably an insurance coverage issue. Can’t help but wonder about that, but if its working for you that’s great!

That’s curious, there’s no fee for me to use RxFood. Wonder if it’s because I live in Canada (they are based here).

How have you found this app in terms of accuracy? I signed up for it when I read about it from a Dexcom Canada email, but found it had an absolutely horrible user interface, so only used it for perhaps a day before abandoning it. I should probably give it another try…

I’m not expert at precise carb measuring, I have been impressed what it identifies in a photo when I forget to list items

For me it’s more about the habit. I conceptually understand the idea of counting but I never was consistent and ended up wild guessing. It’s close enough and my numbers are noticeably improved (also due to switch to tandem).

After I left a comment on the app, the people behind it reached out to meet in zoom to hear my experience. They seemed earnest and medical professionals not just someone hyping an app. I even ended up quoted in a globe and mail article.

yeah the interface took some learning but I’m used to that. It’s worked well for me but it’s always more than the app at work here.

I’m also on a Tandem pump and, I agree, it makes a huge difference in control. I’m especially happy with the latest update that allows use of temporary basal rates. I’m glad the Dexcom/Tandem combo is working so well for you as well!

That’s great to know that the people behind the RxFood app are willing to listen to feedback. I’ll reach out to them to let them know the user interface isn’t very accessible to low vision users if I do end up giving it another try.

I think I’ll give the app another try and reach out to them about the interface. The main problem I had is that I found the interface very cluttered and it used very low-contrast colours and wasn’t accessible with VoiceOver. I’m legally blind so

Bravo, mine was up around 9.9 before I was on the twist pump. I’m so lucky to get it below 7.4 as I’ve still had some highs and lows while on the TWIIST AID. How did you do it exercise diet both more insulin?

That’s a fantastic success to get down to 7.4. My changes were much in more food control and a lot of micro adjustment to settings. I’m still after all this time working to better to not over react to lows and highs, I’m told to let the pump manage more.

exercise is still a place to improve- much of mine is from physical activity maintaining our rural property and hiking. but I miss doing more regular bicycling.

Ahhh I did not catch the accessibility issue which I would understand is problematic. I can check in with my contact there
