Pretty Good App I thought I would pass along.
I like the stand alone version Nutritionix
Information on the Glooko Built-in version can be found Here

Two cups of coffee for breakfast. Bold choice but sometimes absolutely necessary!
Looks interesting. I like its focus on nutritional breakdown.
Of all the foods on @SobeiT’s breakfast list, the coffee would require almost as much insulin for me than any of those other things.
I have never heard a good explanation for that!
@eric and others: I’m always amazed at the impacts of coffee on BG, discounting some use creamer (varying types/amounts) and sugar (real or substitutes). My reaction to coffee (morning or otherwise) is minimal and could be the fact I’m up and moving around maybe a 5-10 point shift. Yet, I read of some folks having to dose 1-2 units for the “elixir of life!” Seems like a drastic amount considering the ICR and ISF of most people…
Sorry, brief divergence from the Nutrition topic. I’ve used MyNetDiary at about $50/year. Is the Nutritionix similar cost, lower, free? Do you find it reliable? The one thing that bothers me with MyNetDiary is many foods are person inputs that are wrong and go uncorrected for long periods of time.
Sorry my late response I went MIA to Texas Roadhouse. < He’s lying **
@Josie @Eric I don’t sweat the small stuff… more insulin, less insulin, coffee yes or no
@Trying I like it so far, Found it better for my use than Just the fact, Easy FPU & some others.
@TomH No worries, the app seems so far to be very good but YDMMV I have only been using it for 24H-10 ** The app in Glooko from their email it states “While many apps charge users to access similar types of food databases, Glooko provides this functionality free-of-charge for our users because we know how important food tracking is for people with diabetes.”
In the App Store it states in-app purchase but I haven’t seen anything that troubled me. They do have a paid for Pro version but I don’t think I would ever have the need to have the paid version.
** Disclaimer: They don’t have Texas Roadhouse at the ER so never got that meal I did get to spend 10 hours, 2 CAT scans, etc. with my new found friend Vertigo I stopped writing this post about 2 hours ago when my wife got home with my Meds. I feel much better on the Meds so I was able to finish. Oh & please don’t tell my wife I was back on to finish she might be very upset with me. I am suppose to be laying down.
Yikes, vertigo, another ailment to monitor! Sorry for this but am glad the meds are helping!!
@Trying Thank you. The Meclizine 25mg is helping just a little. I mean I am not grabbing for doorknobs to keep myself from falling anymore but I am walking with a Cain for balance & not making any fast movements. Sure am not going to be driving anytime soon. I am going to talk with Mrs. BeiT later tonight. Will discuss changing the appointment she made with my PMP Aug 28th to a NP to get in sooner. she still doesn’t know I am on & she is a Colombiana. Pretty sure she knows how to give that necktie thing
Cheers
@SobeiT sorry to hear you are experiencing vertigo – I have had this a couple of times (miserable) and eventually my neurologist diagnosed the formation of crystals in my ear (bizarre, right?!) and did the “Epley maneuver” and it resolved! It’s a series of movements to help guide the crystals out of your ear pathway.
Anyway, coffee and blood sugar: ever since I’ve been taking metformin, I take ZERO insulin for coffee (with cream and Splenda) and ZERO insulin until I eat anything solid with calories. It is delightful. My blood sugar actually frequently drops as I am getting up in the morning! Makes me think my coffee rise was associated with FOTF syndrome and glucose being kicked out of my liver.
Hope you are feeling better! Jessica
Good Luck to you. I experienced vertigo for years and know how scary it can feel. I think it’s comparable to a diabetics fear of low blood sugars.
The topic of coffee here is a bit of a coincidence. In my experience caffeine can make vertigo more intense. I switched to decaf during this time.
@SobeiT Hope the vertigo resolves. I can’t imagine it going on for long periods, only for short periods on getting up to quickly from prone, etc. Pay attention to Mrs BeiT, she probably has your best interests at heart! Not to mention she may bring Oreo’s when they’re needed!
Nope… ER Doc mentioned this as a possibility. I don’t rule that out but I have had double vision for many years. Weak nerve in Rt eye & kind of a Godsend that I now have very limited vision in that eye.
Thanks for the heads up I am looking into this to do at home.
I drink a ton of caffeine with having a Neuromuscular Disorder for almost 40 years there are just days where I would not get outta bed without some help. Better living through chemicals I always use to says (no not the bells & beads hippy trash ones left over from the 60’s ) If I have to give up caffeine to feel better might as well cancel Christmas
@TomH thanks for the
Yes Oreos good but temporal temporary Neckties are so permanent this time of year
@SobeiT - Thank you so much for mentioning the Nutritionix app! I like it so much better than the free version of the app I have been using for years.
Your welcome
Are you using the paid version of Nutritionix if so could you maybe give some reason why you prefer the paid version. Wondering if it opens the door to more nutrition data bases etc.
@SobeiT - I apologize for the confusion in the way I worded that. I meant that I like the free version of Nutritionix much better than the free version of Lose It!, a nutrition app I have been using for many years. I really liked the paid version of Lose It! but it became way too expensive and I decided not to pay for apps anymore after a different (very well-known) notes app took my data hostage and wanted me to pay $129 a year to get it back.
Sorry to hear that that’s no good.
No worries on the conversation it could have gone either way so I asked.
