Is anyone using “not just a patch” X-Patches with Omnipod 5? I use patches with my Omnipod and the ones i am using are a little rough on the skin even with SkinTac. I saw these and thought i might take a chance. The cost is worth it if they hold, flex and are easy to apply, especially when I wear the pod on my arm.
Got it, that helps. If you are already using Not Just a Patch and still seeing irritation, it could be more about skin contact and buildup over time rather than just the device itself.
Some Omnipod users who deal with this try changing placement between arms, abdomen, or upper butt to reduce repeated irritation in one area. Others use a barrier layer underneath so the adhesive is not directly on the skin.
Even with a good patch, rotation can make a big difference for skin comfort.
Have you noticed if certain areas react more than others?
I do rotate legs, arms, abdomen, side to side in three day shifts. It is a little less about irritation than about the bunching of the over tape. The irritation occurs after I remove the tape.
@Rphil2 I don’t know if it would help or not, but some use a TegaDerm like product to help hold pods and CGMs in place, act as barrier under or over pods (they use a different adhesive), or to stabilize cannulas. I think they originally used to hold IV’s in place. I personally use Opsite Flexifix (available online) under my pods to help stabilize cannulas and stop tunneling. FlexiFix and similar products are available in various sizes/widths depending on the need. I use a 2" x 11 yd roll cut to length to meet my needs and still have 1/2 the roll left after using every 3 days, but I only use a small piece and you apparently need something quite a bit longer. On the good side it and similar products sure beat the cost of actual products at most local providers!
