Her surgeon said the surgery was a huge success! Everything went perfectly. The surgeon was very happy how everything went. She had 2 herniations removed from her spine and has 3 scars from the surgery.
(Here are a couple simple little illustrations for context.)
WOW, so glad to hear the surgery was a success and that she will be out on Monday, fingers-crossed!!!
Darn, DM is going to have to really eat up once she gets home to gain all the weight back that she has lost during her stay in the hospital!! Maybe some Lindt chocolates or grilled cheese sandwich will do the trick!!!
Thanks for keeping us updated, Eric!! I know you are not on FUD, DM, but we are all praying for your swift recovery!
Hey everyone,
DM has had a tough weekend. Her BG has been a little bit wacky. No pump (which she is used to using), plus a lot of medications and stress and pain and inactivity. So thatās made it tough on her.
It looks like she will not be released on Monday. That might have been a little bit overly optimistic.
Just wanted to update everyone. Iāll let you know more as I find out.
@daisymae hoping that today is a better day and that youāre slowly but surely able to start to move and find your way to less pain. Sending you good thoughts! xoxo
Thanks for the update, I hope things are going well. That sounds incredibly painful. Surgery stinks. Iāve had 2 in the last month but thankfully both outpatient (tonsillectomy and hernia repair- my abs are a hot mess after that twin pregnancy).
She is having a difficult time with pain and moving.
Originally she thought she would be out after 5-7 days, but because the surgery was more extensive than originally planned, she is going to need to stay in the hospital for 2 more weeks.
She is being transferred to the rehab part of the hospital today. Working on standing and walking and things like that.
She has not been able to get on FUD because the cell coverage in the hospital is bad. But her husband is bringing her laptop and she hopes to be able to login today and post.
Her BG stuff is rough because the hospital doesnāt really treat diabetes like we do. But I told her to let go of it for a few weeks and not worry about it.
On the plus side, her surgeon is still very happy how everything turned out. So she should be good after rehab.
I know that things posted here are helpful and motivating for her. Hopefully she can see our posts soon.
OMG, thanks, Eric. I am glad to hear DM will be supported throughout the rehab period though. We all know DM is a super woman and will be back on her feet soon with her extraordinary perseverance!! Hugs and prayers, DM!!!
āBGs have been much improved today. Around 130ish( they finally raised my basal and boluses.)
I just polished off a dinner of roasted veggies and the best Iced cream ( sugar free) I donāt usually like ice cream but today it really hit the spotšā
I feel so bad DM is still having to experience such pain. My thoughts and prayers are with her in hopes that it begins to recede and she can enjoy life, pain free! I keep telling myself, time heals all ā¦ so, hereās hoping she just needs a bit more ā¦ time.
