2026 is getting better for me in at least one way

Long time unlimited diabetics here are well aware of a lot of what has been going on with me. You were so kind to me when I got diagnosed with bladder cancer and, well, you guys are the best.

I was on high doses of prednisone part of 24 and 25 which caused really high insulin resistance. When I was tapering off my wife had a stroke mid June. She died in September. A lot of stress, added to it my baby sister died and my wife’s brother as well. Lots of stress.

My endo suggested that I make some pump changes, but I convinced him to let be do manual overrides and 4 hour extended boluses.

I was having an unnatural craving for carbs. This finally got better about 10 days ago. I’was putting in twice the carb grams for a bolus and doiing an extended bolus of 4 hours with up to 65% up front. This worked fairly well but I still had to do corrections around 2 hour mark.

You know me with the screenshots of my Dexcom and Tandem, so you wont be disappointed here you go.

Fasting was 104mg/dl but I didn’t bolus and eat for 2 hours. That rise is FOTF which is still a problem.

I was thinking of increasing my correction factor from 1u:45mg/dl to something more aggressive. I really don’t like hitting near 180mg/dl, although this past year I would hit the 300s and the only way to bring it down was 10-12 u intramuscular. That seemed to get my BG’s attention where stacking boluses by pump was just laughed out.

@CarlosLuis the year you had last year would seriously shake most people’s fortitude. Your courage throughout the Cancer, enduring family tragedy, and the loss of Biddy were a lot. Add to that the stress on your health, 2025 was nothing to write home about.

@CarlosLuis I take my hat off to you, you are an amazing strong person and 2026 will definitely be a better year (I hope). If that ain’t a fact, God’s a possum. I look forward to reading more of your posts.

Thank you @elver and @still_young_at_heart for your kind words. About 2 weeks ago I woke with my old sense of energy, and began doing needed stuff more willingly. Looking back, I think that I have been in mild clinical depression for 6-7 months.

Hi there. New here. I’m impressed with how you’re doing and how self-aware you are with your diabetes management. Especially as I am quite familiar with cortisone shots, FOTF and depression. I’ve tried Medtronic’s automated delivery, but going manual really works better for me.

You do you, man.
