Uplift our spirits

I want to run a couple exploratory threads to lift our spirits after the tu announcement.

One idea might be to explore the wayback machine so everybody knows how to access old posts on tu.

Another idea came up from Scott. It was this..

Would either of these be of interest? Do you have an idea?

Wayback machine tutorial

The URL for the old TuDiabetes forum is this https://forum.tudiabetes.org/

Enter it into the Wayback machine search field.

This calendar shows how many times the Wayback (WBM) crawled the TuDiabetes.org website and saved it.

Today is 11/6/2025. When we look at the calendar, we can see that Tu was most recently crawled and archived on September 26 of this year, or a little over a month ago. That means that if the website shut down today, nothing in the past month would be accessible in an archive.

If I hover on that date, I can see that the website was saved once around 9pm.

Click on the timestamp (21:04:00) to access the archive of tudiabetes.

WBM returns the entire archive of the TuForum for you.

You can see all the different threads listed.

Note: Some website functionality is lost. Website functionality that is more “dynamic” (like search) won’t function in WBM. There is no search functionality associated with the archive. Our profile pictures do not appear. But, you can scroll back and find every post and comment.

What can we do to make the archive more complete in the time we have left?

I told WBM to save save the LJAZ’s personal page (because it didn’t exist).

Let’s look at the site inside WBM again.

This time, I see blue dots and green dots.

Lets click on the green timestamp that says "21:04” again and see if WBM achieved any additional data.

It sure did! Now the achieve looks like this:

Lets see if the search bar works…

WBM made me create an account and sign in. It’s free.

I’m gonna show how to save a page into the archive here…

I go to the real TUD site (not the WBM archieve) and find my profile page. I clicked “activity” and got the URL. It is https://forum.tudiabetes.org/u/mohe0001/activity

Now lets plug that into WBM.

WBM says it has not ever saver my activities page. So, I’ll just click the save button to add it into the achieve.

This page held a lot of data so it took a while to achieve.

I got one error.

I tried saving that same page one more time and it makes you wait an hour before you can try it again.

I went in yesterday (11/6/2025) and tried to get some of the larger organizational webpages. It took a lot of time and processor. I didn’t get it all. But, I got some of it. I know people really want the forum, but I went in and pulled some of the Beyond T1 pages.

The trouble with longer threads is that the Wayback machine divides them into multiple pages and only saves the first one.
