bubba is being such a cute one. he enjoys the ride in the car. we took him for a walk the other day. and he didnt walk as far as normal but at least we got him to go for one lol. he has been getting more rubs too. he loves it! well all cats do lol. but he wants more. he even puts his paws on my phone when i play my crossword puzzle game. he doesnt want me to play lol. so he does. and that means to give him rubs. anyways, how are your cats doing?
I’m glad Bubba is doing so well!
We’re pet free and have been for several (six actually) months. We do have a family of birds nestled in one of our pine trees just outside our family room window. We get to watch them fly in and out with worms to feed the babies! It’s like they have a condo in there!
There’s a baby Phil in the back yard lately; usually we see one or two small groundhogs this time of year. Today, he was sitting on his haunches munching on one of the hosta leaves he had pulled off of the plant. We have lots of birds, squirrels, some chipmunks, the occasional duck, deer, Flower (skunk), … and of course the neighbors cats come to visit with all of our “wildlife” in the yard. The cat neighbor lives one door away and is very good about “trying” to keep the cats from catching anything. They have built fences around all their trees and landscaping. They keep large breakaway collars on them with lots of bells, so they don’t get a chance to sneak up on anyone! Both efforts seem to help. My husband has a few bird feeders, which work for all the animals out there but ours aren’t fenced in like the neighbors!
I so dislike the “food chain” and it was the absolute worst lesson I ever had to teach my Daisy, Brownie, and Junior Girl Scouts! I dreaded it every year!
The neighbors in our circle all tell me that Mighty Mouse makes his rounds every day and peers into doors and windows at their cats. A visiting black cat is his sworn enemy but the black cat serms kinda chill about it whereas MM puffs up and hisses and growls!
Zana Grey is holding his own though his kidney disease is a little worse. Mostly his appetite is good and he tolerates the phosphate binder I mix into his food twice a day pretty well. Daily fluids, once weekly B12 in the fluids, and occasional nausea meds help a lot, too. He enjoys sunning himself on the deck when the weather is warm.
Sophie and Leo are about the same—skittish and grumpy, respectively—and only want to go outside if one of us is also out on the deck or in the yard. Sophie likes to roll in the garden beds and Leo somehow finds the courage to go over the fence to the neglected yard and explore.
They are so different and I love them all!
sounds good :)…my best friend at her house has bunnies, squirrels, birds, etc come by. she will take pics of she can catch them in the back yard, etc. and its ok to be pet free…sometimes its the best, sometimes your not ready for a new furbaby, etc.
glad to hear your cats are doing good…zana grey seems to be holding up which is good. but its good that he is eating, etc. my boyfriends cat saturn is skittish around me but not around him. i dont think she likes me. but runs away when i come near her. his other cats tolerates me but dont like being around me. when they are ont he couch ill pet them for a bit. but other than that, they dont like me lol. i like the name mighty mouse :)…sounds like a good name
So so sad to report that Zane Grey passed away tonight due to end-stage kidney failure. We are heart-broken…
Oh, @CatLady, I’m so sorry to hear your precious fur baby has passed away. I know how heart broken you must be. I hope Zane Grey is now pain free, purring in the sunlight, contentedly napping.
hugs…sorry for your loss. he had a great life and a loving mother. i know the feeling of being heartbroken. hugs
@CatLady I’m so sorry to read this. My sympathy to you and yours. Sending you lots of hugs.
@CatLady I’m so sorry for your loss, I know Zane Grey will be greatly missed. Losing such an important part of the family is never easy, but I hope you find comfort and peace during this difficult time.
Sorry, losing a beloved pet is so hard…hugs from afar.
bubba has a pride shirt and bandana. ill have to upload the pics of him in the shirt. the weather is getting hot so im not sure how he’ll do with the walks. my boyfriend may wait until its cooler to walk him. but he is doing good. he enjoys the rides still. and he enjoys when my boyfriend gives him a bit of his ice cream. he is in love lol. ill be having surgery on my ankle soon and bubba wont enjoy not being able to be on my ankles. ill have to figure out how to get him to sleep on my right ankle vs both. i hope your cats are all doing good…CatLady how are you holding up?
Let us know how you do with the surgery!
i will…bubba wont be happy that he cant sleep on my ankles…he just wont. but hope he’ll get it and understand and snuggle up to me
Doing okay, sad, sometimes I just start crying ‘cos something has triggered a memory… Adopting ZG helped me process my dad’s passing so he was very special to me.
i understand about something triggering you. i still have that happen with calvin and taranga. my therapist has a black cat named calvin. so that reminds me of my white cat who was named calvin. hugs
Hang in there. It will take a long while before those tears turn to a smile at the mere mention of their name. I recently lost my beloved Afghan hounds and am so thankful I have many photos and videos to relive our moments. Maybe you can view some of ZG to help you get through the tough days.
Here are a few pics of bubba from tonight ……he will be home by himself for the next few days as I’m having surgery in my ankle tomorrow
Sending good thoughts your way on the ankle surgery. Hope it goes really well. Ankles are tough beasts.
Thanks….I’m nervous but looking forward to this and getting it over with….I know it will take a long time for me to heal…longer than all the other surgeries I’ve had
