Sugar Pixel+ just came out recently

We absolutely LOVE (and depend on) our Sugar Pixel these days…the randomized alert sounds ensure my brain never gets used to the sounds and it’s just been a lifesaver for BG management during the night. I just happened to be checking out their website and found out that there’s a new Sugar Pixel+ that is INSANEY awesome. While expensive ($175 for the device w/o the bed shaker and $210 with the bed shaker), it’s probably going to be something I get for Liam and I. Liam loves it and it’s got so much additional functionality than the original Sugar Pixel we currently use…I mostly love how you can now connect to see IOB and COB on the screen but there’s too many features to mention that I love about the new system.

If you’re interested, check out their video walkthrough! Walkthrough

It’s on pre-order now and they start shipping out this month.

I have the old one and I love it, just as a display. I don’t use the bedshaker but I wonder if you could use the bedshaker from the old one with the new one, if it’s the same type of plug? (Fwiw I don’t see a benefit to getting the new one for myself so didn’t look into it closely.)

We also don’t use the bed shakers either (yet)…thinking it may become useful when he’s in college. I mainly like the new display for the additional capabilities it provides with connecting NS/pump info. When we purchase ours, I’ll let you know if the bed shakers from the old fit into the new units.

I’m proud owner of 2 of the current version. Liked it so well added one in my home office.

Seems to be relatively large compared to a regular SugarPixel, but if it works to wake folks up that a standard phone or PDA type doesn’t work for, that’s what counts.

Yes, the problem with all other forms of notification systems (for me), is that they aren’t good at notifying for high BGs and even when they are, they send repetitive sounds that you (I) end up not being able to wake up to because they blend in to my dreams during the night (brain is a wondrous organ).

These systems provide randomized sounds which I wake up to 100% of the time.

Thanks for sharing this. It is interesting how much difference alerts and features can make, especially overnight when you are not actively checking.

It sounds like the newer version adds a few changes compared to what you are used to. Has anyone else here tried different alert setups and found ones that felt easier or less stressful day to day?
