I think I'm finally moving away from SugarMate

I have been using SugarMate now for many years. The true value of it, for me, was the phonecall that I was able to receive for the LOW BGs or impending LOW BGs. Since I received and started using the Sugar Pixel, I hear all LOW and HIGH alarms because it’s extremely loud and is always randomized so it’s not something that my mind can adjust too, when sleeping. So, that’s the one reason I’m considering moving away from SugarMate is that the Sugar Pixel wakes me up for both HIGH and LOW alarms.

A second reason is the duplication in alarms and the added “waking me up” that is added to every alarm…so with both systems working and active, I get the Sugar Pixel alarm on the device plus then immediately before or after, my phone will get a phone call from SugarMate…so I’m being disturbed twice for each alert, which is really tiring and frustrating to need to hit each of those all night long sometimes, hour after hour.

Lastly, I’m super frustrated by the new visual layout of SugarMate and I find it always in a state of “Loading” on my Television at nights. I’ve found just pulling up NS on the television is working fine to give me a big view (with a black, dark screen background in NS) that I usually had SugarMate open on the TV for.

So for all of those reasons, I’m thinking of moving away from SugarMate. It’s been a great tool for me for many years in being able to wake up and treat Liam’s Low or impending Low BGs, but since starting with Sugar Pixel, it really is a duplication of data and alerts/alarms which isn’t fun to wake up to each night.

Just seeing if anyone else has come to a similar conclusion with SugarMate?

Cheers!

@ClaudnDaye Have had similar thoughts about Sugarmate, mostly because when I go on trips without internet, I don’t get the calls. That, combined with the two facts the G7 app provides a better contingent of alarm sounds and Trio has virtually eliminated lows for me makes it one less app to be concerned with. Anything that simplifies what and how much we deal with is a good thing!

I use Sugarmate for a phone call when I go below 54. I hardly ever look at the app. But I find the phone call wakes me up when I have been ignoring Dexcom alerts in my sleep.

That’s the only thing we used SugarMate for also. The standard alerts we were deaf too…getting that phone call for lows was super helpful. But with our Sugar Pixel we now get really great/loud/cannot be ignored alarms for both highs AND lows, so I am finding duplicate alarms/phone calls going off for each low or high.

Did you have to add a 2.4ghz router? Right now I think I’m stuck with 5g so have been unable to implement 2.4ghz smart home devices.

Perhaps I should start a new thread on this.
