Skin graft therapy and insulin production

This interesting research in mice at U Chicago Medical center uses CRISPR to express, in skin grafts, a glucagon-like peptide, GLP1, which stimulates insulin production:

Far from human application but interesting: if it ever works on humans you could treat Type 2 diabetes with skin grafts, at least for a time.

Lucky mice, LOL, But kidding aside, I have taken GLP1 drugs and found them very useful for a while before they stopped working. I hope that if this ever comes to fruition that they figure a way to extend its usefulness to be permanent.
