So this happened today. I know it was today because before I changed my pod yesterday I checked the website hoping to finally ditch my controller. There were rumors about three weeks ago it was coming out soon.
It says the OP5 iPhone app is now integrated with G7 but if you follow the link to update the app the site says the update will be coming in the next few days and wait for the update notification.
I received a email on Friday from Insulet for a upcoming update to the iOS app for safety reasons and apparently it must also include this G7 integration.
I’m hoping the update is here before my next pod change on Thursday. I used the app for about a month before I started on G7 and really loved the phone control and extra room in my fanny pack!
Here’s the update at App store. I just got it this evening.
Great luck on this one, I am in Day 12 of my very last G6 sensor and planning to switch back to G7 on Thursday in prep for some travel. Insulet’s timing could not have meshed better with mine.
I’ve been having problems getting Direct to Watch set up on the updated G7 iPhone app…eventually it will connect but only after repeated attempts.
Not sure what the fix is or if there is a fix. It’s been a few months since I used G7 with the PDM controller but I don’t recall having so much trouble connecting direct to watch.
This is about Bluetooth signal and location. The more direct line you have between the watch and the sensor the more secure the connection. For example, if G7 is in the right, watch gets paired easier on your right when it has direct line of sight w/o body parts or a phone in between.
I dont know if this applies. I always have my watch in low power mode. I’ve noticed that if I turn that off and put my watch on the same arm as the G7 it’ll pair pretty quickly.
Ever since I’ve used direct to watch I’ve had to use low power mode or it will go dead by early afternoon. Super annoying.
I am able to get the watch paired on the opposite arm from G7 sensor but only by turning BT off-on a few times and waiting. Have not tried same arm yet but hopefully that is the fix!
We moved our son over to the Omnipod 5 app w/ Dexcom G7 integration on iphone on Sunday. Both Sunday and Monday night his Omnipod alarmed because it lost connection for 4 hours. On Sunday night we actually had to replace the Omnipod and start over. Last night we caught it soon enough that we could recconect and mover forward. This has not happened during the day so not sure what is going on.
For what it is worth he wears his Omnipod on the back of his upper arm.
Sorry to hear about that. I’ve found that my phone loses connection with the G7 and usually the pod rarely does.
You mentioned 4 hours. There is a setting under reminders that I’ve accidentally toggled on that will shut off a pod if you haven’t used the PDM in a four hour period. It’s an inactivity reminder that can be set up to 24 hours. I woke up in the middle of the night to a screaming pod and then called tech support to figure that one out.
