I went to my sisters house for Christmas…mom and dad and siblings and their spouses children… so far 11 of the 24 that attended have tested positive despite having all being vaccinated and boosted … anyway I feel really drained, feverish, coughing like crazy, and totally no appetite, Wonder how this is going to play out with blood sugar
keep us posted, I forget, are you looping (or have dexcom with a solid connection)?
do you have nightscout and want to post a link that way we can keep tabs?
I feel like sleeping is the biggest issue, but hopefully during the day can take some big doses if necessary and have a variety of carbs nearby
I’m really sorry to hear that. I hope it does not last long and doesn’t throw off your BG too badly. Please keep us posted on how you’re doing! I’ll be thinking about you!
no just plain old dexcom and omnipod but they seem fine at waking me up when needed… do plan to keep a pile o carbs on the nightstand lol
thanks i will
Sorry to hear that, unfortunately the Omnicron variant is quite an infectous beast. Hopefully the information you are able to post about it will be helpful to others.
well so far I can say for sure it is very transmissible … and so far there is a wide range of levels of symptoms from very mild to pretty rotten. Tuesday night I did my regular 1/2 hour on the exercise bike no problem not at all winded or overheated…today I get winded walking up the stairs so it progresses pretty fast too
i’ll update as I see how it changes blood sugar
@3cTim I’m so sorry you’re feeling so under the weather. I hope that with the vaccination and boosting, you wind up just having a bout of mild fluish symptoms. Please do keep us posted.
I hope you recover quickly.
thanks
I haven’t seen anyone report BG issues so far. My own, unconfirmed, experience two years ago was just like bad (really bad) flu/cold; the CGM kept me on track, I had drained/feverish, no appetite (but then I wasn’t moving…) Stick with it, rest; the vaccine has prepped your body and your body will do the work.
Feel better soon! I was expecting to see some amazing pics of New Years cookies from you! C’mon, it could be a thing!
(Any excuse for cookies, right?)
Keep plenty of gatorade, chicken broth, and water on hand for dehydration…
LOL it could be a thing or matbe just some frosting on an oreo
Just keep on making them fancy!
There’s nothing wrong with frosting on Oreos! At least if it’s similar to the innards creamy good stuff!!!
Hold tough!
Sending warm positive thoughts your way. Hope you have a speedy recovery.
so far here are my observations…Everything is slower, it takes 2 or 3 times as long for a correction dose of carbs to work, and it takes like 4 or 6 times longer for a bolus to kick in (which has lead me to over do it ) and it takes about 2 x the amount of insulin to do the same thing, I’ve reset my basal dose to as high as I can (2 units per hour) It seems good for now.
part of this is likely due to severely reduced activity/exercise
so far I feel no worse than yesterday…really bad cough , low fever, headache, body aches, lightheaded, stomach aches, loss of appetite, but not really worse than yesterday so Im scoring it as a win
prior post was about yesterday and last night…so far today is totally different…had to turn down the basal rate to prevent lows…might be just that it changes a lot
Hopefully that means that your body has turned a corner for the positive in its fight against the Covid invaders.
Wait…where are the spikes?! Those look like little Robby the Robots that drank something sour!
@3cTim I am sorry I am late to the game here after responding to so many other threads. I am so sorry that this took you down and that you are feeling crummy. Glad that it’s not too awful so far; please know you’ve got a team ready here to help with whatever we can. Please continue to rest and recuperate. Sending a big hug- Jessica
