For those who've been able to eat low carb for YEARS

I know this thread is old - but, I have heard that once you switch your pump OS over to ControlIQ you cannot go back to BasalIQ.

At this time, that is still correct.
I know they were contemplating letting the user make the choice afterwards, But we have yet to see if this comes to fruition.

how do you make your yogurt?

For us it’s how did we make yogurt? My wife is triggered to IBS by bovine proteins. These are in cow dairy and beef as well. For many years we keep registered Nubian dairy goats. For yogurt we used a Salton Yogurt maker. You will need a starter. We used lactobacillus acidophilus. You can also use some plain yogurt with live cultures.

You need to keep the temperature between between 108°F and 112°F (42–44°C). We didn’t pasteurize of milk, choosing to drink it raw. Because of this we could take just milked filtered milk, add the starter and put in the maker which keep the temperature just right.

My wife would make yocheese similar to recotta by hanging the yogurt in a bag to drip the whey out which we fed to the pigs.

We still have the maker, but no longer have a milking herd. With animals bred for extremes such as milk production there often is difficulty in birthing. We did that together, me at the head and her doing the obstetrics. But with age she became too frail to be the goat midwife. We have one doe, no longer breed, no kids, no milk.

This is the yogurt maker. One of the cups got broken and I think the one 2nd from the left is a peanut butter jar.

This maker is available on eBay. What we like about it was the individual cups. My kid (sons, not goats) would love to mix their own fruits in theirs. My favorite which was before being diagnosed with T2DM was Macintosh apple with a bit of maple syrup- a perfect flavor combo in my opinion.

Geez, I love that response, @CarlosLuis. It tells a story.

Not nearly as charming - I make my yogurt in an InstaPot using Fairlife milk. So, so easy, and very tasty.

I grew up with a very similar maker. Brings back good memories.

My mom used that yogurt maker, too.

@CarlosLuis and @CatLady this made me smile – my mom used the same yogurt maker! I just got some recipes to make yogurt in our instapot. I really only prefer Greek yogurt and it sounds like there are some good recipes out there to give it a try (I’m sure it will take me ages, but I’ll keep you posted when I do!). I would have love to have tried your goat yogurt.
