Am in my mid eighties and have been Type 1 since I was twenty. I run Dexcom 6 and Omnipod 5 on an Iphone 13 mini. Everything works fine except the other night when my iphone went bananas! It just needed a reboot but allowing for my age, the middle of the night it and my high blood glucose level it took me some time to work this out.!
Is there some way to install the software on a backup Iphone and switch to it when needed?
Hi @Cattell,
I do not think a 2nd phone can pick up a pod in the middle of it’s session. The phone that activates the pod has to be the phone that interacts with it.
Not 100% sure if that is the case for the Omnipod 5, but that’s how it is with all the previous versions of pods.
No sorry . If you uninstall the app you would need to also switch pods.
You could have the OP5 controller programmed and ready to go next to the bedside table so it would at least save the step of entering in basal rates and such but…. I have found that leaving my controller unused for a couple of months required a hard reset before using it again.
@Cattell Not sure what you’re looking for, the O5 info or just BG numbers. If the O5 info, I don’t know as I don’t use it. If you just need BG, you should be able to use Dexcom’s “Share” function and their follow app on the other phone.
