Apple or Android watch alone with Dexcom G6?

I have had a lot of problems logging on to FUDiabetes. Thanks for the direct email contact. I am sure I can help you with your question. For the last probably 10 years I have been using the Sony Smartwatch 3, SWR50, for monitoring all versions of the Dexcom CGM, starting with the G5. I also had a direct response from an engineer at Dexcom who confirmed that the Sony will have no problems with the G7. In fact Dexcom uses the SWR50 to test the G7. They confirmed that they can’t recommend the Sony since it is no longer available. Sony used some technology that is either patented on to expensive for others to use. That includes the transflective display.
I use the Sony with xDrip+. In fact it is very simple with the watch to switch from a standalone function or to transfer back to the phone.
If you are the one that mentioned that their Sony stopped working it is usually cause be the battery. I have replaced many SWR50 batteries. The first replacement is difficult since you have to remove the original rubbery seal. I have since replaced the seal with an ‘O’ ring with some additional sealant. The charge cover is more difficult if you are in deep water. I use a simple tape overlay of the seal.

If you have any additional questions or help let me know. The watch also works perfect to make and answer phone calls. Again to make a call you must make sure you have the required contacts. If you get a call you can easily answer with the watch. The person calling will be added to the contact list.

@dmac Dennis I’ve also started a new Topic if it’s easier to respond to that instead, hopefully this link will take you there: Sony Smartwatch Alerts - Tips, Tech & Gear / DIY - FUDiabetes
