A thought came to me about pharma standing in the way of a type 1 cure

We tend to get caught up in our own issues and I hate to say it, provincialism.

The thing is, most developed nations have national health care systems that keep obscene pharma profits down, unlike the USA.

It is in the interest of nations with a national health care system to do the research and development seeking a cure for chronic diseases that put a burden on the national health care systems.

The truth, in my opinion, is there is no conspiracy to prevent a cure, just like there never was the fabled 100mpg carburetor deep sixed by GM or Ford.

My chronic disease, T2DM, has no real pathway to a cure that I can see. T1DM does but the research needs to be in learning how to reprogram the immune system, first and foremost. This would also open up relief for the many others suffering from autoimmune diseases.

I agree. Using your vehicle example, how did we end up with Tesla and Rivian. Oil companies have great power and resources which is no different than pharmaceuticals.

Can you imagine the money that would come from a “cure”. It would be massive. I’m sure an “Elon” or “Bezos” would be more than willing to take to part in that.
