this year its bubbas 3rd christmas with me. he doesn’t know what he is getting for gifts yet. I’m sure my boyfriend will get him something lol. he has gotten lots of toys from me over the years. I really need to find them all and put them in a bucket. this way he can get his toys and I can see how many he actually has. on Facebook in one of the groups I’m in we are doing a secret Santa paws. so I need to get the person I have gifts out. then that way I know it will get to her soon. may be late but as long as it gets to her. but my goodness this holiday season has taken a lot out of me. bubba meows when I get home from a weekend away. he eats his food quickly when I’m gone…im thinking about getting one of those feeders so I can put it down when I’m away. not sure which one to get tho. there are so many out there! anyways, he is good. sleeping on my foot so I can’t move lol. how are you guys babies?
My crew has enough (way too many?) toys so I will get them some tasty treats and fancy cat food.
Leo had his wellness and thyroid check today: he’s doing really well, just needs to eat a bit more to keep his weight up.
to cats there isn’t such thing as too many toys. as long as they have something to hide under the furniture then they are good. there is a need for a pet store specifically for cats lol. lots of toys, litter boxes, litter, food, etc. all for cats. thats good that Leo is doing good :)…how old is Leo?
A little over a year ago we came home from a week away to find one of our Himalayan’s had died. Our daughter said he was fine that morning, playful and purring, before she left for work. He was 12. Sad.
About a month ago we had to put down his brother, who developed an inoperable mass. He was 13.
Sad.
They were littermates.
This is the first time in our 41 years of married life that we are without a cat, or any pet for that matter, as we’ve had a few dogs in our lifetime too, but always a cat.
We’ve had as many as five pets at one time and as few as one. At the moment we don’t plan on getting any other pet(s).
Leo is 12 but the oldest is Zane Grey, who we estimate is 22. ZG takes his turn at the vet’s tomorrow for a check-up.
Oh, I am so sorry for your loss.
Oh, I am so sorry for the loss of your cat last month. I know what a heartache it is to lose your fur baby. I hope the two are now together, playing and purring together with all your pets who have gone before them.
hugs hugs
wow 22? go ZG! Leo is a nice age as well
ZG had an excellent vet visit on Friday. The vet found a low-grade murmur and checked his blood pressure—no worries there. She cleaned his ears (okay, he did NOT like that!), checked his teeth, and drew blood and got a urine sample. For an old guy with kidney disease, his results were very good! She wants me to add a B-12 dose in his sub-Q fluids once a week and ofherwise keep doing what we’re doing!
So…MM brawled with a visiting cat yesterday and now has a bite wound, gah!! The big black cat (BBC) often comes by, usually in the evening but occasionally other times as well. (Whenever Miss Sophie spots BBC, she yowls!!!) Anyway BBC invaded the garage yesterday and MM objected! When I heard the ruckus, I ran downstairs to the garage but the cats had taken the fight outside. I threw on boots and headed out to see MM giving chase. They both scaled the fence for a face-off. I hollered and clapped until BBC headed off. MM calmed down and came inside. After handing out some treats, we were able to clean the wound and apply antibiotic (which he hated). I expect we’ll be visiting the vet tomorrow…
damn! glad MM is doing ok despite what happened. a vet visit for sure will be needed. keep us posted on the vet visit.
Good thing you saw/heard them! My cat is pretty wild but never goes near other outdoor cats, thank goodness. The outdoor cats seem to know to steer clear of her, too, though I will often see one sunning themselves or maybe hunting nearby! I hope MM is fine. She must defend her territory!
What a brave kitty! I’m glad MM came back in and calmed down a bit! Here’s hoping he does well at the vet’s!
bubba has been extra snuggly lately. not sure if he just wants to snuggle up to me or knows something is wrong. a few days ago I had flare ups which we aren’t sure if they are seizures. maybe thats why? I have new pics of him to post. what is your cats doing?
Pretty quiet here for my guys since each had a wellness check-up recently and MM’s wound has healed. The big black cat keeps coming around though so I hope he and MM don’t get into it again!
glad your cats are doing good :)…bubba needs a wellness check this summer. I bring him yearly to be sure he is good, etc. I don’t want to go through what I did with taranga. so I want to be sure he is nice and healthy. I hope it won’t happen again either. it seemed rough for him
awwwwwwwwww!!! hhhhooooowww ccccuuuuutttteeee!!!
How are all the cats in your lives? We are changing up Zane Grey’s routine a bit: he now gets 50ccs of lactated ringers daily instead of 100ccs 3-4 times per week. He doesn’t like it and hides under the bed but will come out for his lickable Churu treat. We are also going to try him on Hydra Care, which is a veterinary product developed to help cats with chronic kidney disease retain more fluids in body tissues and reduce the strain on kidneys. Paws crossed!
Here he is having a comfy nap on my lap.
