T1D For 80 Years

I have been a T1D for 72 years, but there are eleven people who have lived with T1D for 80 years. Kathryn Ham is the most recent to receive the 80 year medal from the Joslin Diabetes Center.

Very inspirational. It is great to see people thriving with Diabetes. It really makes me believe that the kids diagnosed today will live normally and do great things. Thanks for posting.

I think there are more than that, the majority of people with diabetes aren’t in the Joslin program. That said I do think it’s a great way to recognize diabetes achievers like you.

AMAZING! This makes me so hopeful for my little one, who was diagnosed at 2!

Only eleven does seem kind of low, but considering the time period we’re talking about (diagnosed in the '30s), there many not actually be many more than that.

I definitely hope I’m there in another 55 years or so!
