Sorry, don’t mean to be a naysayer about it all. But I am tired of hearing about a possible “cure” and it’s only mice.
I mean, they have been curing mice of diabetes for decades. 
You can’t even find a diabetic mouse anymore, they have to give them diabetes!

This is only a whisker away from one of the plots of Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, in which Earth is a large science experiment designed and run by mice (well, ok, technically what we call “mice” are the protrusions into our dimension of vast, hyper-intelligent pan-dimensional beings, and not very nice ones either).
