Keep it goin’…lots of good training by you !! It’s great news that you have a race day right around the corner. Raising my glass to your efforts !!
HL -
Wow, wonderful perseverance and commitment. And you know we’ll all be cheering for you on April 26th! As you said, “keep on keeping on”!

Larissa, this is soooo impressive. i am floored. My swimming pool was closed 2 months ago and will not be reopening for at least 1.5 - 2 yrs from now. I have been out of my element…one of the few things that has brought me and my life endless pleasures.
bc of this, i have decided to take up running, with, of course, Eric as my couch. I only hope that i can achieve the kind of tenacity and driving determination that you are undertaking. OMG! you are a true hero, in every sense of the word.
I am wishing you nothing short of the best, and you are in my prayers. You ROCK, Girl. Go for it!!!
(virtual hugs OXOX , Daisy Mae)
What the heck could take 1.5 - 2 years to redo? That is a crazy long time.
Right? I was thinking the same thing Chris.
Absolutely NO SOCIAL DISTANCING…think about it: entry, stairs to locker rooms, passing all the other classes going on (if they r even going to go on), cleaning everything all the time, sweat spraying out in every direction, disinfecting the showers, the toilets, the sinks, the sauna/steam rooms, and rationing the swim lanes (its been permitted to have 6 people per lane, now it would b only one???)
I BEG OF YOU, FUD COMMUNITY: if you can come up with a plausable solution to running an entire YMCA during a pandemic (in the heart of Brooklyn, NYC), PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE put in your two cents. I will bring it to our mayor, Cuomo, even!!!
Much Love, with a heart of hope, yours truly, Daisy Mae
You got this, @LarissaW !! Good Luck!!
You’ve got this, @LarissaW! It will be very interesting to see/read about your adventures!
@LarissaW, I am sooooo very impressed with you and how well you are juggling and keeping up with so much - running and school and your glucoses. You are a winner!
Way to go, @LarissaW! My old wobbly knees are in awe of your upcoming DIY marathon!
Thank you everyone so much for the nice wishes! I am so overwhelmed at all the kind words; I don’t even know what to say besides thank you. This community has and continues to be an incredible source of inspiration and strength for me, and that is invaluable. thank you
now - I CANNOT WAIT TO GET OUT THERE AND DO IT I’ll be thinking of all of you, your families, and the diabetes community throughout the race. It will be so meaningful for me to be able to add +1 to the growing mass of diabetics that have run a marathon so that I can show myself and the world what diabetes can look like - resilience!
I’m impressed with you before you even hit that start line or that finish line.
But I’ll be cheering like crazy for you in spirit at both, as well!!!
You’re ready for it, go out and conquer it… we’re with you as you start, finish, and every step along the way!
So sad…HIIT for me is 2 IPA’s while studiously attempting to ignore 2 yelling dogs.
I am confident that you will have a spectacular race, whether virtual or real. Just finishing is a HUGE accomplishment, and I believe you will far exceed that small goal. Emil Zatopek, a Czechoslovak long-distance runner once said “If you want to run, run a mile. If you want to experience a different life, run a marathon.” I think this is true, because nothing hurts more yet is so rewarding at the same time.
Have a great race @ Larissa!!!
Thank you again everyone for all the good wishes
The weather is looking absolutely perfect for tomorrow!! (knock on wood)
I was shocked that anyone could look forward to running a marathon in 50° weather – until I remembered you guys still use Fahrenheit!
I’m cheering for you, @LarissaW. You have international cheerleaders.
Yeah I think 50F (10C) might be the best temp to run a marathon in, I had one of my best sprint tri’s in the 50’s, although getting out of the water was more than little nippy.
I’ll be thinking about you guys tomorrow. I’m super impressed and encouraged by your examples of perseverance!!
I’m thinking about you guys today! I am proud to call you guys my friends! The mountains you willingly climb make the daily mountains in my T1D world not seem so big.
