Sorry you are having to change it up and not get the cheering and adoring crowd you deserve. Congrats though for getting through your training and dealing with the injuries and generally just being amazing.
So getting some sort of injury while training for a marathon is pretty common, just because of the ramp up of miles and how hard that is on the body. I have had past knee surgeries so I was already a bit predisposed for more injury even though I’ve been doing core exercises and focusing on strengthening leg muscles.
But my biggest piece of advice if someone’s looking into walking or running more is to go to a legit running store and have them look at how you stand, walk, and run so they can make recommendations for the right shoe for you. I unfortunately had just gotten shoes online, and they were angled a bit off for the way I run, and that totally could have played a factor into it as well.
Thank you! it is driving distance of SF if you’d like to drive across the country to the east coast
Less than 2 weeks until race day! And I can call it a race since @Eric will be joining me in running a marathon virtually so we’ll start at the same time and both just go 26.2 miles. Simple and fun, but not necessarily easy at all to go 26!!
I don’t know any other coach out there that would drop everything and pick up marathon training. He’s absolutely absurd in the greatest way possible!! So big props to Eric and I respect the hell out of him for helping me in the first place, since I wouldn’t consider myself easy to work with all of the time. And then a big thank you for offering to (happily!) run alongside me (virtually) for a lot of frickin miles.
I have had a blast, and it’s been great getting to have all the personalities meet over the past 20 weeks!
Tequila Eric meets Studious Larissa
Hurricane Larissa meets Sensible Eric
And then there was when Tired Eric met New Year’s Day Party Girl!
Lot’s of great memories from our training time! Phriday Phun Runs and Google spreadsheets and all kinds of info exchanged in all kinds of ways. I have really enjoyed it a lot. It’s been great getting to know you. Respect!
Hey, @LarissaW, less than one week til the big day! I think this week you might be running a bit less than all of your previous weeks packing in the training for this marathon and you are probably apprehensive about NOT running your usual high mileage! I know your body needs the rest though so you can give it your all on race day! I won’t be running with you or even seeing you race but I will definitely be rooting for you! So excited for you, and inspired by your dedication!!
Hurricane Larissa meets Tequila Eric - could be a great movie or series! @LarissaW - wow. You’ve accomplished so much! Amazing! I am at a loss for words.
I am a bit of a couch potato. HIIT for me may be 25 jumping jacks.
