Problem with Jelly Pro, Dexcom G5 and xDrip+

We are and she is delighted with the phone. I was in contact with a couple of more people on Facebook and they did give good advice in relation to the battery. He said not to drain it completely too often as this is meant to affect the battery performance in the long term. We only need to get from 8am to 8pm so what we are not in that territory.
Ava has Congenital Hyperinsulinism. Its kind of the opposite of diabetes. She had a subtotal pancreatectomy . However she still has faulty cells pumping out too much insulin causing hypos. They are starting to wear out now bit by bit and her levels are starting to get higher and higher. So with these faulty cells gradually wearing themselves out and with not having any pancreas she will eventually go to the opposite extreme and become diabetic. we are experiencing a lot of high lately. We only started using a CGM last December. We became aware of it kind of by accident. We did question specialists in GOSH in London if we should use a CGM but they were not interested in them as they believed they were not accurate. Looking back our believe is that they were actually not up to speed with the technology and knew nothing about it so they dismissed it. When we showed the new consultant in GOSH he was amazed by it wants every child to have one now. This technology changed our lives. IT allowed her to come off an overnight continuous feed into her tummy which kept her levels from dropping. Before we could not let her out of our sight because we were constantly checking her sugars. We did not sleep a proper nights sleep until we got the CGM.
Thanks for all your help.

By the way below are the concluded settings for both the xDrip+ App and the Jelly Pro phone:
Jelly Pro Settings:

  1. I made sure the phone software had the latest update installed.
  2. I agreed to having Location ON (it is left on continuously)
  3. Went into Location settings and changed the setting “High Accuracy” to “Battery Saving” (Use WiFi, Bluetooth or mobile networks to determine location).
Note: Do not confuse this with Intelligent Battery saving. This is Battery Saving in Location settings only.
  4. Agreed to having xDrip request of NOT applying battery optimization
  5. Whitelisted xDrip+ in Background task clear
  6. In Battery Saving Mode - Battery Profile - My Mode - I have the following on:
    –Mobile networks
    –Bluetooth
    –GPS
    –Vibrate on tap
  7. Battery saver set as “Off/Never turn on automatically”
  8. Intelligent power saving standby turned off
  9. xDrip+ selected in the Duraspeed list of background activities of apps switched on in the list. The only pps running here are the essential apps such as Google Services, phone, messaging etc. I have the screen brightness turned down to the minimum and in the display settings the screen is set to timeout after 15 seconds.
  10. In Network Access Control I have everything set as on/enabled.
  11. I turned off as many notifications as possible in the settings.
  12. I turned off default settings for phone to vibrate for example receiving call etc.
  13. I made sure xDrip+ is the only app installed. I had a panic alarm app installed but was wary of this requiring location to be on or it requesting it to be on.

xDrip+ Settings:

  1. I downloaded the latest release of xDrip+ from https://github.com/NightscoutFoundation/xDrip/releases: Nightly build 13th Nov 2017.
Note: I think this may have helped as they said there were adjustments made in the software which should help with connectivity. This seemed to make a big difference in ensuring consistent collection.
  2. OB1 ticked in G5 debug settings
  3. Authenticate G5 before each read attempt is ticked
  4. Ensure no other phones are also acting as collectors. I found out the hard way that the other phone was also trying to connect with the G5 transmitter and not allowing my intended collector Jelly Pro phone to connect with the G5. All other phone that we have present are set as follower phones using either the xDrip+ App (Follower mode) or the Nightwatch App.
