Became type 1 in my 50s in 2012. Was misdiagnosed as Type 2 at first. Very frustrating.

I think there are several of us here. I was dx’d T2 at 58, stayed that way until all meds stopped working 8 yrs later. My PCP’s training was that older adults couldn’t develop T1 later in life. Seems a common misconception still evident, though less so today. I got referred to an Endo who did the blood tests necessary to confirm a T1 dx, put on insulin immediately and got a CGM then an insulin pump. Been that way since.
