I’ve read many of you have had issues with G7 15 day be inaccurate but they were in older threads. Is this still the case? Which will you be switching to? I have an endo appt coming up in Jul and will ask here opinion, but I’d like to get FuD members’ opinions!! Thank you! I’m still on G6 and still have a few G6 sensors and transmitter before I need to switch.
7-day. No choice. I hear G8 will be out next year and we can do 15-day once that happens. FDA didn’t focus on getting testing or approval for the G7 for people under 18; rather, the G8.
Which is 7 day? Does Liam’s sensors only last 7 days?
I’ll post what my endo recommends but if 15 day is actually as accurate as the G6 and doesn’t drop connections I’ll go with it!!
Our endo just told us she’s getting lots of complaints about the 15-day. Sorry, the other one for those not over 18 is the 10-day, I think. She says she’s had loss complaints over the one Liam has to use, than The 15-day which he isn’t approved to use.
Liam is currently on the G6 which is 10 days.
My response is somewhere. The G15 only lasts 12 days for me, the G10 lasts 9 days. In fact, with some risk to my health, I can stretch a G10 to the full 10 days and that is what I do. There is no way I could stretch a G15 to 15 days; this is based on my use of two G15 samples provided by my endo.
I did the math; I can get my insurance (Medicare) to pay for three G10s a “month” (kinda 25 days or so depending) or I could get my insurance (Medicare) to pay for two G15s a “month”; same 25 days. Divide 25 by 12. Nope. I’ve got the G10. I am prepared to put up with Dexcom and ream Medicare to cover the lossage but, quite frankly, cheating the People (Medicare) to pay for a Corporation (Dexcom’s) inadequacies does not appeal. The G15 just makes it worse.
Oh, of course, Dexcom will replace 3 sensors a year without question. Then (see a recent thread) they start to get upset. 3 sensors a year for the G10 is 8%, consistent with their acknowledged 5% failure rate. If I didn’t believe that different people have different results I would think that was fine.
I’ve been using the 15-day sensors for over a month now (3 insertions) and have been happy! The only thing is I’ve needed to use the overpatch, when I didn’t before. I have put it on around day 10 and that’s held me.
