I have always made a point to tell my kids the whole truth about any question they had, however difficult it was. But I am 100% with you on this one: I see it as anesthesia, not a lie!

My parenting style is to give my children information based on what will help them and what is age appropriate for their individual maturity level.
Whether something is considered the truth or not may be a factor but it would be pretty low on the factors involved in my internal deliberations.
