Hydrocortisone

A doctor prescribed hydrocortisone for a skin issue I’m having. I’ll be using a small amount (pea-sized).

On the couple of occasions where I’ve had a steroid injected, it’s been a nightmare blood-sugar wise.

I’m guessing that since this is topical and a small amount I don’t need to be concerned but I thought I’d ask if anyone has noticed hyperglycemia or insulin resistance from using a topical cream.

I’ve used it previously on Liam and it had no impacts on his BGs. But as with everything, YDMV (Your Diabetes May Vary).

My experience with prednisone.5% ointment. The only time it affected my BG was when I applied some to a spot of eczema on my neck. I spoke with a pharmacist and she said topically usually not an issue. Then she ask where, and I pointed at my neck. “That skin is very thin so maybe.”

I have not noticed any BG effects from it when I have used a topical corticosteroid cream.

I have also had steroid injections. Big difference!

If you have any effect at all, it will be much smaller than what we experience from injections.
