That’s the way Medicare works but it’s also the way most US private and group insurance works; the materials used by the doc in a procedure (including a surgical procedure) get billed as part of the procedure by the doc (or his/her employer). So I never got billed for the titanium bar that supplemented my collarbone to fix the results of a skiing accident. I certainly got billed a lot by the doc, but nothing for the DME; it’s still there and it is certainly durable.

With Medicare the physician either shows up on Part B or Part C (we can only have one). For me it is Part B; billing may be different on Part C and therefore those on Part C please discontinue reading this.

The Gotcha on Part B is that the physician has to accept assignment. The Google AI gives the right answer if you type, “Accept assignment meaning”. Well, it did when I tried it; tomorrow is a new day.

If the physician does not “accept assignment” it does not matter what form of yoga is performed; the physician will bill you and you will have to go back to your Medigap coverage to see if “excess physician charges” are covered. Once again the Google AI grants the right answer.

I’m old fashioned. I don’t trust the Google AI and I don’t trust the Medigap Plan G I have and I certainly don’t trust Medicare; it’s way too complicated. But I’m pretty damn certain that if I do go for an EverSense I’ll not pay anything more than the Part B deductible, which I’ve already paid. Of course I have my own opinions and that is one of them; please consult your lawyer before receiving any treatment on Medicare.
