Sounds promising. Stem cell treatment, so it does require immunosuppression (which might be worse that diabetes for most of us). It appears to only require infusion and not a surgical implant though. First patient seems to have been cured, so it looks promising. I think this is the study on ClinicalTrials.gov:

They seem to still be recruiting patients (only 17 total) from multiple sites around the country. Not even a phase 1 trial yet! The official title calls it “A Phase 1/2 Study”. Very interesting- if only they would combine this with that treatment to stop your T-cells from destroying your islet cells so they can drop the immunosuppression (I don’t remember where I saw that one- someone please post a link below if you remember).
