That seems a little too high. I just now looked on Amazon and ordered 300 for $57.96 free ship from Diabetes Health Supplies. There were other listings in the $60 range.
Dang, I just ordered them yesterday for 60. They had been increasing over the past months, so was happy to see 60.
Maybe it will be even lower tomorrow.
Amazon does customer-sensitive pricing. In other words, based on your past purchasing profile, they make slight variations in the price they offer to different customers.
My order was for same vendor, and now see 57. So I think in this case it was not Amazon, but I have seen that happen.
I usually hit the option to see other vendor prices before ordering, although know that does not always show lowest price.
When I was younger, I was on a strict eating schedule. However, my parents allowed me to snack on tomatoes whenever I felt like it. Even before I was diagnosed, my great-grandfather loved to eat sliced tomatoes covered in salt and pepper. I have very fond memories of my great-grandfather and my grandmother eating tomatoes this way.
Tomatoes are now my favorite food. Iām convinced that nearly every meal is better if you add tomatoes to it. I still donāt need to dose for one
I usually shop with javascript turned off and all cookies and browser storage cleared. This used to make it hard for them to know who I am until I have seen the item and turn on cookies to put it into a cart and log in. These days they may have good enough browser fingerprinting to be able to identify me anyway.
In addition to pricing based on who you are, they also do dynamic pricing, where they move the price up and down many times per day in an effort to extract as much as they can from the customers. I find the camel camel camel site helpful to see whatās a good price recently.
Ewwww I hate tomatoes!! LOL!! I still will barely eat anything thatās touched themā¦ except very very hot sauce where you canāt taste them and tiny amounts mixed in stuff in situations where its impolite to pick them out. When I did my study abroad in France, my host family had tomato salad for dinner the first night I was there and it was all I could possibly manage to eat it politely with as much bread and cheese as possible. Mmmm cheeseā¦
Iām right there with you Jen! Iāve often wondered if there are identifiable reasons some PWD are more insulin sensitive than othersā¦or if itās just the widely variable nature of Diabetes.
I read recently that gut bacteria can drastically alter the glucose response individuals have to various foodsā¦ Iām sure there are many, many other factors. For me itās actually changed over time. I used to be able to handle more carbohydrates, then I was diagnosed with Gravesā disease, and that seemed to shift something in my physiology so that Iām now unable to handle those same amounts with the strategies that used to work (pre-bolusing, weighing food, etc.).
Possibly. Amazon is always a good resource for my supplies and foods. Being a prime member I get free shipping so it really saves over the year.
i love the free shipping, too, and i love that it arrives within minutes after placing an order
Iām not really sold on meters as one being vastly better than another. Mine has a Bluetooth feature so I can send my data to my iPhone for a glance at my numbers over time and averages. Iād love a CGM though, but those are way out of reach financially for an uninsured like me.
Also, I really rather not push the carb thing. Living in the north during winter is pretty limiting so I canāt always dash out the door to walk it off.
Thanks for the tips!
I feel dat! Spring n summer I am way more active so that means I can handle a little more carbs. Running or yard work like raking really cuts my numbers if they are on the rise.
EH finds indoor sports like vacuuming and sweeping to lower BG pretty well.
Also, he recently tried one day of a free indoor 30 day fitness challenge I had signed up to do (Betty Rocker) and it lowered his BG quite a bit.
I donāt blame you for limiting carbs if thatās what works for you. Iām glad we get to see what everyone else finds helpful on here, but it varies so much for each person and even day by day.
How convenient for you!!
Now that you point it out, Iāll have to suggest it more often!
Partly because of time itself. With age comes a changing metabolism. For one thing, we digest more slowly ā only slightly at first, a change most people wouldnāt notice for another decade or three, but we tend to notice because the timing of food absorption makes more of a difference to us.
