I recommendd everyone take the time to provide input on this essential topic. Currently, islet cell treatment is limited by the FDA as a drug; changing it to treatment as an organ would seem to make sense and stop the insanity and limited treatments to diabetics. I’m sure there is a con position, but I can’t think of one. Refer to: Regulations.gov for the input questions being discussed by authorities (state, federal, medical, and pharma). Resolving this issue is needed for progress in treatment of T1’s particularly with the likes of islet cell transfers from cadavers, and would likely impact the creation of islet cells from STEM cells and any other sources as well.
