The background is that there has been a rapid approval world-wide for treatment to delay T1 in many countries. Sanofi’s marketing page gives something of a timeline:
People may wonder why a delay of a year or two in the progression of the disease is important. Personally I feel that it may help but the screening is much more important; I spent a few months of my life at “stage 3” running from each class to the pissoir and back to the next after I had got to stage 3. If this incredibly expensive drug encourages routine screening that will justify its cost alone.
