SUPER discouraged post-endo appointment

@Marie I did ask respectfully and thought I made a good case, although I did not specify the particular tests. Thank you so much for this list; if he asks for specifics I now feel very equipped to answer him.

For 30 some years, my internist managed my diabetes. A couple of years ago I asked to switch to a pump due to the high cost of insulin and had learned Medicare would cover it all under Medicare B. So I was forced to see an endo. I see a nurse practitioner. (I am a retired nurse myself) and I find I prefer working with NPs for chronic management of my health issues. We had a bit of a rocky start, but have since worked through our initial problems. When I started on the pump, I didn’t have a CGM, but checked my BS frequently to get a sense of how my body reacted to the initial settings. We have adjusted them a bit. I only have 2 basal rates. One I use almost all the time and one I use when I I have a day my sugars seem to be running higher. We tried some pretty detailed ones with lots of changes over the day and evening initially but eventually ended up where I am now which is 0.8 units/hr.

The endo NP makes suggestions sometimes, but I remind her I am reaching my daily BS goals about 96% of the time and my a1c is low 7s which at 74 years of age is acceptable to us all.

I too would suggest 1 more visit, but if it isn’t a good fit, and it is important to feel you have someone on your team then look for someone else.
