Random D thoughts

Yes- if I eat similar, or familiar foods. It’s somewhat predictable. But there are the mystery foods like donuts- is a donut 50 g of carbs or 65 g of carbs? Cinnamon raison toast? What happens to me is that about 3-4 hours after my bolus for a donut, I would drift lower, the insulin is still working. One solution that I developed is that I only eat half of a donut, and take less insulin than if I ate a whole donut. Honestly, who wants to eat only half of a donut? Argh, I am frustrated with diabetes, annoyed that I would need to eat half of a donut so that I don’t have to spend so much effort on managing the BG’s! Sorry to have hijacked this thread and I am venting here.

I like most of Matthew McConaughey’s movies, but this last one I totally didn’t understand. It was kind of a short movie too.

I saw it on TV. I’m glad I didn’t pay for a movie ticket for this one.

It was his first attempt at writing/directing/starring in a movie.

The car was the best part

It was like one of those artsy movies we are not really meant to understand.

It’s too bad cinnamon doesn’t cure diabetes, because with the amount of baking I’ve been doing while stuck at home, I’d be cured by now.

Some folks out there keep mentioning vinegar!

In Chinese cuisine, it’s often recommended to have soysauce and vinegar with very fatty dumplings because the vinegar helps of the digestion of the fat. But I’ve never seen conclusive evidence that vinegar cures diabetes. (I do take my resistant starch daily).

Too bad! I bought some cocoa powder last week, do you think that will work?

I firmly believe cocoa/chocolate has a miraculous impact on BG levels…
…by reducing stress levels.

Unfortunately, chocolate is currently on my “can’t consume” list. :sob:

It may not cure diabetes, but soysauce and vinegar does taste lovely together.

I love cocoa powder! How to you have it? A little sugar in water, or with milk, iced or hot?

ETA: This was our favorite donut shop when I was growing up so I got an extra chuckle out of the story this morning!

Watching a rerun of Back to the Future.

Must’ve been really disturbing for Marty McFly to go back in time and find out how easy his mom was.
