My neighbor's story

She was out calling the dog and me my cat…and we met in the street and started chatting–kids back in school, a little more free time, etc. Then she discloses that she has a “wierd pancreas thing” that causes her body to release a lot of insulin or very little insulin in a very erratic fashion. She finds herself getting “woozy and shaky” and takes a “sugar drink” or, more concerning to me, said her vision goes blurry, she can’t think straight, loses weight, and throws up! That sounded like DKA to me! The endo has her on metformin but doesn’t have her checking her BG. She does have a meter and I urged her to start checking regularly and keep a record for her next endo visit. I told her I am T1D, showed her my CGM, and asked her to send one of the kids over if she ever needs help. Anybody heard of anything like this before?? I am really quite concerned about her. Thanks!

I’ve heard of insulinoma… which matches that description

Thanks, I will look that up.

Sounds a bit like Reactive Hypoglycemia most if not all the symptoms fit.
