I’ve been asking other people, but I should have asked the diabetics.
QUESTION #1.): Is this a wave of med device recalls in the diabetes space? YES / NO
I mean, they finally released some revised quality information that references EVERY model of Medtronic insulin pump manufactured in the last 20 years. Our people are confusing Insulet (Omnipod) device recalls because they are indistinguishable from one other, other than that they increase in magnitude/prevalence/severity. Dexcom has had some ultra strange (although not extensive) recalls that I wouldn’t even believe existsed, except that the pharmacists have told me about the ‘unlicensed distributor’ problem. I never would have believed that occurred. I imagined that the FDA would send people with handcuffs and guns to shoot you dead on the spot if you were repackaging nonfunctional medical device waste and selling it to licensed pharmacies. It’s inconcievable to me.
Question #2.) If QUESTION #1 = TRUE, is that an industry reaction to increased enforcement activity by the feds? YES/NO
Question #3.) Can AI see everything that the diabetics have written on the internet in our forums for the last 20 years? Does it only search active webpages or does it go into the internet’s archieves?
Ahh, as far as i know.
The recalls are a gut reaction to the issues MedT faced with the shutdown during the pandemic. It was brutal. Novo is facing similar concerns over GLP1 manufacture right now, so these fears are not unfounded. Are they a little super cautious? I imagine they are. I would be. It cost millions for MedT. better to be super - super vigilant than be told you were liable for a decision to be lax with a recall years after the fact.
Is it increased federal enforcement? No not really. At present the regulatory environment is as loose as it has ever been in our life times. Will it stay this way forever? The companies are betting it will not. Call it future proofing enforcement.
Can AI see everything? Of course it can. The question is more fundamental however, can you see AI?
woo ooo oooo

Interesting theory about the manufacturing problems.
Insulet has recalled 7 million devices so far. I can’t find the associated monetary loss from that just now, but it was huge. I think they have had around 450 adverse events filed.
According to major newspapers, or at least a press release:
On April 29, 2026, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration reported that Insulet had submitted 476 serious injury reports associated with the issue as of April 17, but the company clarified these were Medical Device Reports potentially related to the [March 12 voluntary medical device] correction, distinct from the 29 confirmed Serious Adverse Events. The clarification aims to prevent confusion among regulators, investors, and patients about the scale and severity of incidents tied to the device correction.

Yes, but more precisely it is a wave in the Diabetes Tech space. Dexcom’s problems started with the FDAs criticisms of their quality control; there were no recalls from that so far as I can remember. However:
No, but a nuanced no. Until recently Diabetes Tech and not been on the FDA RADAR because we did it ourselves. Sure, insulin pumps have been mainstream for a long time but CGMs have been medical bling, hardly essential for safe treatment of diabetes. Until AIDS came into the paid world. It’s only a couple of years since AIDS in the paid world was limited to, “Low BG suspend.”
Now, clearly, the issues of AIDS quality and performance are acknowledged and being addressed by the FDA. This has knock-on effects for every component of diabetes automation; it is much, much more important for each component to work correctly.
Ah, a valid question Ms Meerkat but somewhat off topic. I will burrow up to your level since the question is certainly entertaining and it is your post. [Just to be clear, I’m channeling “The Wind in the Willows” here, nothing else; in my youth I associated with Badger but in my cups I think Mole is more my style.]
You answered your own question of course:
Does it only search active webpages or does it go into the internet’s archieves?
I like the word, “Archieves.” If only we could achieve something by writing it down for others to learn, or maybe we can? Nah, the AI does not look where the AI has not been told to look [double negative :-)] The AI does not look on UseNET, or maybe it does and ignores it:
Yep, you have to age verify, even though the link is just to “misc.health.diabetes”; there’s more history there than we ever wanted to live.
