HACK TO FSL2

Hello guys,

As you know, FSL2 prices are constantly getting price hikes, at least in my country. I was able to extend the sensor usage after 14 days with helper apps for FSL1. However, this has been fixed for FSL2. I have an Android device, so I’m not having any trouble installing the APK file for FSL1. I used edropnfc for FSL1. If you know of an app for FSL2, I’d appreciate your help.I have some software knowledge. I don’t know where to start.

I don’t use the Freestyle Libre 2 sensors, so I don’t have any firsthand knowledge… A quick Google search brought up a lot of Reddit threads lamenting this same thing. Several users mentioned you could use apps like xdrip+ or juggluco to get an extra 12 hours, but that they hadn’t been able to extend it more than that.

Love our CGMs, but hate the costs. :persevere: Good luck!

I totally get the frustration with rising costs. Just keep in mind that FSL2 (and other CGMs) are only officially approved for up to 14 days because after that the sensor filament starts to break down, tissue reaction builds up, and accuracy drops. The adhesive can also loosen, which raises the risk of errors or infection.

With FSL1 there were some workarounds to restart sensors, but Abbott has locked that down with FSL2 for safety reasons. I’d recommend talking with your doctor about options, sometimes they can help with insurance coverage, samples, or switching to a different CGM brand that may be more cost-effective in your country. It may not be the easy fix you were hoping for, but staying within safe wear times is the best way to make sure you’re getting reliable and accurate readings.

What about FSL3 (i.e. Libre 3)? It seems worlds better than their previous sensors and they even added a receiver so that it would be covered by MediCare in the US; they are apparently looking for adoption so that may explain the price hikes.
