I just learned that my insurance no longer supports Freestyle teststrips. As if April 1, they said the FDA no longer approves Freestyle Lite steps for the OmniPod, only Freestyle strips. I had been only getting the lites so I could use them with my tiny Freestyle Lite monitor as well.
Can I use the Freestyle test strips with the Freestyle Lite monitor? Does anyone else have this problem?
I think I heard that the Freestyle strips are interchangeable.
I’ve been using the lite strips with OmniPod for a few years, even though it is a Freestyle, not a lite.
The website for the Lite says that only the Lite strips are supported. I’ll test them on the Lite monitor once I receive the Freestyle strips. I’ll post the results.
We’ve ONLY been using Freestyle strips with our OmniPod PDM.
I like using the Lite because it is so much smaller and easy to use. Usually only use the OmniPod Freestyle when I need to calibrate!
I’ve only ever used Freestyle strips with my OmniPod PMD, but I have read, here I believe, that I can use Freestyle Lite strips with the PDM with no problem. I’m going to see if I can find the post.

I totally understand the screw-ups.
But for what it’s worth, the FreeStyle strips are interchangeable. The FDA hasn’t approved it yet. And I guess they aren’t even trying to get approval. So they just tell you to use that one particular type of strip.
