Was it mostly easy early and then it got up to 6.5-7 RPE at the end? Or was it more like 6.5-7 for the whole run?
(I don’t generally classify an RPE of 7 as “easy”. By easy, I mean no more than a 5. See this reference from last year, which is kind of crazy because it was actually the 2nd post of this entire thread.)
Do you think it was your run yesterday that elevated your RPE on this one? Or was it the pace that made it 6.5-7?
It’s fine, tomorrow is another easy. But slow it down a bit and save it for Thursday.
I felt like I was working on the hills. That was probably the part that made it feel hard, but everything else, right up until the end, felt good. I also had a little bit of a dip in blood sugar right in the beginning that I felt. It happened to be at the start of the first hill, which was long. So kind of a starting behind the gun kind of thing. Even so, I recovered just fine and felt good. Does that answer your question?
-IV less than an hour before (don’t think I left enough time before starting)
-140 so had a yogurt before heading over to the treadmill

RPE for first 4.5 miles was blah because felt low. Was trying to get myself to 6 miles. At 5.75 miles, I was back together and did the full 6.4.
All that stress stuff… don’t know what to make if it, but my numbers have just fallen through the floor. Now I’m having to readjust AGAIN to keep an eye on the lows.
Because 59 minutes is less than an hour. And so is 5 minutes.
But obviously, you were still dropping for the first 2 miles and then leveled out. So you still had a bit of the insulin. Also whatever bolus insulin you did beside the IV and the basal leading up to the start, since you only cut it when you started.
One trick is to be checking the crap out your BG for the 30-60 minutes before the START of the run. If you are still dropping when you start, that can be trouble.
So it is not just that you were starting at 105. What were you 15 minutes before starting? For example, going from 120 to 105, and then starting, that spells trouble.
Just check like crazy leading up to it, and see if you can be leveled off before you start.
But really, looking at the final few miles and the end result, you were able to reverse the drop and recover nicely. Transcend to the rescue, right?
These numbers are great! I’d be ecstatic with them!
I hope you are going to continue this thread. It has helped me tremendously, and I bet many other, unnamed readers. I am taking Huma on my runs now, a whopping 21gm of carbs, usually without any bolus except Loop temp basals. I learned about Huma here, in your thread - thank you!! I have followed your thread since you began it and have learned so much in each post. Your improvements have been amazing, and you are an amazing runner, and writer. I just want to say, I miss your posts, and hope all is well with you, and look forward to your next post!
Okay. I’m gonna come up with something post-worthy. Can it be about anything? I’m running still, but I need to get myself organized and start looking for a race.
Thanks for the motivation, trying. You got my gears grinding…
