Dexcom Receiver Recall

I switched to using a receiver when Dexcom said that my phone was too old for the app. Pissed me off. But I do like not having to carry my phone at all times just for Dex. And being able to use bluetooth for ear buds again is great!

@Mariethm I can understand not being happy with an app that tells us our phone is too old! I’m not sure I understand how carrying a receiver is different from carrying a phone (as long you’re using each for the same purpose), other than the form factor may be different. As to the earbuds comment, I don’t understand at all; I’ve never had any difficulty using ear buds with a G6/7 and Dash pods. Is there a phone age issue on number of devices that can connect? If so, I’ve forgotten or don’t recall it.

I use my G7 receiver! When I was on my tandem pump I didn’t, but I’ve been MDI for about a year and the receiver is helpful when I’m at work and don’t want to carry my bulky phone, and when I’m sleeping for the alerts.

The receiver is much smaller. Fits under my pillow much better! And, yeah, my old samsung could only have 1 bluetooth connection. I got a new phone recently, but haven’t switched back to the app.

@Mariethm I don’t recall being aware of the BT limitation, but it makes sense there was progression of capability. You’re right the size difference is substantial (I took out my receiver to check for the recall and noticed the size difference). That said, I can’t help recalling the advice received for kitchen help: ā€œNeed to conserve storage space? Limit the number of single use devices, i.e. if it only has one use (cherry piter anyone?), skip it! Of course, it depend on the device and doesn’t say skip them all!!

I love single use kitchen utensils! I’m pretty sure there’s a support group out there for those of us that have drawers of them.
