I expect AI to be “managing” any and all commercial closed loop pumps within a few years…whether the patient asks for it or not. Seems to be the way everything tech is headed.

@John58 I appreciate that you may be right, but am concerned about the potential of being always wired, possibly not having access to the parameters the algorithm uses. I live in Loudoun County VA, home to data centers extraordinaire…1 to 5 stories tall monolithic concrete walls, fences with spikes tops, obvious fence disturbance sensors, lights and cameras on all sides and vehicle/personnel entrances, guard shacks at entrances (though I’ve never seen guards!)…normally I should be impressed/assured by the seeming impregnability of the facilities, but given the current environment I can’t help wondering what they’re hiding! (Not to mention the impact when computers shrink again or quantum comes into existence!) Alas, I’m 70+ years old and may not see any of this, you youngsters will have to deal with it all!

@TomH Not too far behind you at 68…I live in WA where data centers suck up as much of our clean hydropower as they can, and the tech companies brag about how GREEN they are! I think, like everything else these days, the AI is being way oversold. Unfortunately the tech companies are full speed ahead with it, whether tech consumers like it or not.
On the plus side, I find it handy to ask a detailed question in one of the free AI apps and have more or less given up on Google searching as an alternative.

Just fyi, during my last appointment at Joslin Clinic, I discussed this with my PA. @Eric, she is much more of your opinion that AI won’t have much impact on Diabetes care in the next 5 years or so.

I’m not so sure AI is not able to infer as @bostrav59 says. I think @bostrav59 may be right for some of the existing systems, but some may have sufficient breadth and depth of facts/results as to be able to infer, at least statistically, just as humans develop over the course of their growth and data feeds (experience). Five years is a long time at the current rate of expansion in the AI realm, it may take that or longer, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it took less!
