My wife, Lori is a type two diabetic on Medicare and because she does not take insulin. Medicare won’t pay for a G6 a G7 or anything and we can’t afford to go on the new Dexcom one at $100 a month.
Is anyone recently upgrading from a G6 to a G7 have any spare sensors and or transmitters that they can either sell to us really cheap or we can pay postage for?
I hate to even ask, but we are just really tight for money right now.
I do happen to have some G6 sensors. One box is unopened (contains 3) and has an expiration date of 2024-07-31 and the other is opened (contains 2) and expired on 2024-06-30. I believe some previous posts here have said that expired sensors can work fine, but I haven’t checked that. If you are interested, I will be glad to mail them to you. Just DM me the address.
I just heard a tip on how to get Medicare to cover CGMs for T2Ds not on insulin.
If her provider is amenable. Tell them she would like a script for a low dose of basal insulin that she would not fill.
It was some podcast or you tube thing from Dr. Edelman/TCOYD a couple of weeks ago but I don’t remember exactly which one-sorry. He was saying that he does this with his T2Ds that were trying to get Medicare coverage for CGMs.
