I remember many years ago, when I was but a grasshopper diabetic, that the BDA (“British” as opposed to “American”) was reviewed by the Consumers’ Association (tr: Association->Union) as part of its value-for-money review of charities. The BDA spent what the CA regarded as a somewhat large amount on “overhead” (or it might have said “administration”, or anything like that.) So I stopped donating my pocket money.
