He’s spent a lot of time trying to convince me that it can win. He’s convinced me. But that community who is suing had to save up money for 6 years in order to do it. The doctors have just been furious with AMA and launching some fantasticly impressive attacks against it.

P.S. I bitched at the doctors extensivley yesterday and as a result multiple people reached with job offers. The world just consistently does not work the way that I would imagine. It’s so strange.

It seems common here to believe that, “Attack is the best form of defense.” I believe that can be paraphrased quite accurately as, “Not listening is the only way to avoid learning.” I always love to learn but I don’t take to being told; there is never a need to shout. So it’s easy to criticise:
If seems amazing that, as the most powerful country on this planet, we have somehow forgotten that we don’t need to defend ourselves by attacking someone else.
In the matter of US healthcare we are on some kind of ice flow that is clearly melting. Our response it to bring in ever larger AC units and criticise everyone else, particularly if they stand on solid ground.
I’ll listen to anybody who has an honest intention to fix anything.
That’s typically not the intention of political parties and political partisans (especially when they are campaigning). But as soon as they DO help solve problems, I stop calling them political partisans and I start calling them ‘members.’ Some individuals are somewhere in the middle. That’s confusing territory during campaign season because you don’t know if they are playing for their party or playing for practical problem solving.
I tend to give individuals the benefit of the doubt, but demonstrate increased skepticism of the parties during campaigns. The parties are at their peak level of “annoying,” right now. Even political partisans are annoyed with their parties right now. It starts to become dangerous because the parties are constantly asking for ridiculous amounts of money and time from voters. Voters ask, “What have you ever done for me?”
But maybe they will adress that. Don’t seem to, in what they published. Maybe they have some revisions.
The doctors in MN hatched a plan to start manufacturing insulin through the state because they simply couldn’t rely on those companies anymore. That was CivicRX, which moved to CA and is working in conjunction with the state to manufacture insulin and Narcan. When company corruption is so bad that the state needs to setup a competing company in order to supply the market, that’s not a great sign.
Do you think these strikes by Doctors can help anything? Some of the Docs are great and have really honest intentions to improve patient care. There are some great providers. But sometimes (somehwhat often) they just want more money. They get mad that they don’t get any professional respect or autonomy anymore. But they have not upheld their professional and ethical obligations over such a long time period that they have just lost their reputations. Because of their lack of patient advocacy, it can be hard to view them as anything other than just collaborators with the insurance companies. I get that perspective.
They were Friendlies, @jbowler. Nothing to worry about. They didn’t say anything bad about diabetics. Completely supportive. They sold our position in a totally nonpartisan, practical way. Only downside was that I tried to do “the worm,” twice. Failed both times. I have never failed before. It really hurt. My face is pretty smashed up. I kinda knew that I didn’t have the strength to do it, in the moment. But I did it anyway. Every part of me hurts. It was all worth it. It all worked out.
