A week ago Wednesday I did something stupid that caused a kidney infection. No overt symptoms until Sunday afternoon- fever and chills.
I did my Saturday 30 miles, and my blood glucose was staying high, not normal Saturday evening I got the sad news that the one of us was killed by an angry man who backed into her at high speed. Hannah Rapp died in hospital. Still not recognizing the cause of the up and down fevers I wa thinking continue stubborn highs was stress over my young friend’s death.
Monday I had brown urine so I saw my PCP hoping to get oral antibiotics.“No way, go home pack some stuff and go to the ER.”
I did pretty good besides clothes and charger and cable I had insulin and 3 sets. What I didn’t pack was a couple spare G7s and a new vial of test strips.
I’ve had excellent results with G7 and got complacent. At day 4 of the 10 my Dexcom failed. I only had 3 strips with me.
I used to be a good scout always prepared with a ready to go up to date go bag.
The infection is clear but they are waiting on a urine culture. I’m going to have to stay another night BOO!
The diet they are feeding me is called Consistent Carb. They left out high. My 3 meals today added up to 210g. Without C-IQ my basal is running at the set level which normally is only some of the time. I thought about lowering it but it seems help covering the high carb meals with my bolus.
