In my neck of the woods Costco is shut down. we r on complete lockdown in BKLYN. the only way for me to get a KIND bar is at my CVS pharmacy, but my guess is that they have already been hoarded and r completely sold out. glad I still have my own hoarded stash at home
John,
Belvita bars work great for this. They have a good mix of slow and fast carbs that are useful for me in a lot of situations.
Currently they are either unavailable or the price is extremely jacked up, but at some point in the (hopefully) near future, they should return to being cheap and easy to get.
Check them out.

This is true, your mileage may vary, based on weight and other factors. It’s good to experiment with emergency sugar in stable circumstances, no insulin on board, etc, and see how quick and how much it raises your bg… And share this info with your potential caregivers
I just tested a roll of smarties with a low BG and no active mealtime insulin. Keep in mind, this will vary for you, based on bodyweight and active insulin, primarily:
Before BG = 67. Ate one roll smarties=6 grams carbs (dextrose)
After 10 minutes, BG = 92.
After 15 to 20 minutes (estimated time) BG= 99
These were tested on relion Premier compact meter, not top shelf, but fairly accurate in my experience. These numbers are right in line with what I’ve tested in the past.
For what it’s worth,
